Winter Holiday Cooking with Instructional Chef Kate Sonders Solomon - focus pecans!

Saturday, December 12th, 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

spiced-pecan-tartsJoin Kate Sonders Solomon, '00, in her kitchen as she teaches and demonstrates the preparation of some delicious savory and sweet cooking options featuring Georgia pecans - the ones Smith College clubs around the country have been selling at holiday time for more than fifty years to raise money for college scholarships.

Kate will feature two of her special recipes for variations on stuffing, “Stuffing muffins,” guaranteed to delight far beyond traditional Thanksgiving fare – perhaps a feature for your upcoming holiday meal.

Cook along with Kate as she teaches the art of baking pecan mini-tarts with bourbon whipped cream; this time prepare your own pastry dough with a no-fuss recipe. You will have your evening’s dessert surprise!

Hear about Kate’s culinary journey, including experience as a professional cook, ‘recipe journalist’ and children’s cooking instructor in interactive discussion with Q/A.

Recipes, including ingredients, cookware and instructions, will be circulated to all registered participants several days prior to the event.

If you have already bought your pecans this year, brava! If not, please visit our store to order your pecans. Be prepared for our class, enjoy pecans for yourself, consider giving them as gifts to friends and family, as you contribute to the Smith College Scholarship Fund.
