Meet and greet at the DC Moore Gallery for a festive and fun evening with hors d'oeuvres, beverages, and a surprise raffle. Photographer Duane Michals (b. 1932) turns his eye on the legendary artists Rene Magritte and Andy Warhol in this exhibition of early portraits. Known for his surreal sequences and witty storytelling across media, MIchals' portraits of other artists turn the tables upon his subjects by adopting elements of their characteristic visual styles.
The exhibit includes over twenty portraits of other artists including deKooning, Louise Nevelson, David Hockney, and Alice Neal.
Also on view: a focused exhibition FACE, including works by Marisol, Alex Katz, and Jacob Lawrence. Gallery staff will be available to provide insight into the exhibition and answer questions.
