About the Smith College Club of New York City Admission Committee

The SCC NYC Admission Committee works in conjunction with the Smith College Office of Admission to raise awareness of the college in NYC high schools.

A primary activity is to provide off-campus interviews for prospective students. Whether or not they are able to visit the campus, high school students often welcome the opportunity to meet a local alum and engage in a relatively informal conversation.

Preparing Care PackagesThe committee reaches out to newly accepted Smithies with messages of welcome and invitations to attend a club event or a send-off party where the students can make local connections.

The Smith College Book Award is an annual tradition whereby each local high school can name one female student in her junior year to receive a certificate and specially-selected book. The committee leads this program by communicating with high school leadership and performing award fulfillment.

Finally, the committee provides moral support to current Smith students from NYC by sending ‘care packages’ during final exams. This hopefully makes them more aware of the SCC NYC and the community of alums that awaits them!
