Annual Smith College Club of NYC Benefit

A cherished annual event, sponsored by the Smith College Club of NYC, the Annual Benefit is our way of giving back to the college and features a keynote honoree. The evening is subsidized by the club and 100% of the income raised goes directly to the NYC endowed scholarship fund for NYC area eligible students. 

Generally a distinguished Smith College Alum, the honoree talks about her career and journey through life after Smith. The Club has been honored to present keynote speakers such as Shelley Lazarus, Charlotte Ford, Florence Fabricant, Farah Pandith and Mona Sinha.

Our program this year featured Ruth Simmons, President Emerita of Smith College in conversation with Deborah Archer '93, and was held at the New York Yale Club on April 2. The event was sold out and broke previous fund-raising efforts, reaching a total of over $65,000 for the Club’s scholarship fund. 

Thanks to the Benefit Committee, and, especially, to the generous donors who made this such a success! A special thank you to Ruth Simmons! As introductory remarks were concluded, Ruth spoke about the importance of financial aid, and donated $10,000 to the Fund! We are forever grateful for her support and generosity.

The money is paid directly to a scholarship endowment fund managed by the college, which continues to grow to meet today's costs of a college education thanks to the generosity of Smith Alumnae who gather at this event to celebrate their connection to the college and each other as alumnae.

What a wonderful way for the Smith community of New York City to give back to the college as well as to support current students.
