Smith College Club of New York City: Tour of Rosalie Smith ‘15 Thesis Exhibition

Sunday, March 9, 2025 | 6:00 PM

Join the Smith College Club of New York City for a tour of Look Both Ways, Hunter College’s 2025 MFA Thesis Exhibition featuring Rosalie Smith (Studio Art, 2015). Along with six other artists, explore Rosalie’s interdisciplinary and unique sculptures made of found materials; Rosalie will walk us through her show highlighting her incredible sculptures.

Rosalie Smith ‘15 is a Virginia-born interdisciplinary artist working primarily with found materials. She will be sharing a series of new sculptures exploring technology's role in wealth disparity, and imagining a world in which the 99% of the population inherits piles and piles of tech-related trash, as the remaining 1% jet off to Mars. With a whimsical and absurdist tilt, her sculptures are inspired by the notion of navigating ecological crises with assemblage gadgets and vehicles. Her artwork has been shown internationally, notably including the Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans, The Newcomb Museum at Tulane University, The Ogden Museum, New Art Dealers Alliance, and Field Projects, among others. Her work has been written about in Art in America and Burnaway, among other publications.
