Art for Art House exhibition at Poster House

Let’s go to the movies! Angelina Lippert ’07, Executive Director and Curator, has invited SCC NYC members to return to Poster House for a private tour of Art for Art House: The Posters of Peter Strausfeld.

Between 1947 and 1980, Peter Strausfeld created more than 300 bold, hand-printed posters for London’s Academy Cinema — the city’s premier art house movie theater. His striking linocut designs promoted international films by now-renowned directors including Federico Fellini, Akira Kurosawa, François Truffaut, Ingmar Bergman, Andrzej Wajda, and Satyajit Ray.

This exhibition marks the first major North American presentation of Strausfeld’s work and comes to Poster House through a generous loan from Michael Lellouche.

The tour will be led by Tim Medland, curator of the exhibit, who has guided SCC NYC members through previous tours such as Fallout.
