Mid-Holiday Broadway! Thoughts of a Colored Man - Come Join Us

Wednesday, December 29  2PM to 4PM...and then...

                                                                                        thoughts-of-a-colored-man-1

Treat yourself mid-week between Christmas and New Year’s in the company of other Smith alums to an amazing theatrical experience at the John Golden Theatre, 252 W. 45th Street, then a post-theater meet-up to refresh and discuss with play producer Gabrielle Palitz ('80).   Thoughts of a Colored Man, recently debuted to critical acclaim, uses ‘slam narrative,’ a blend of spoken word, slam poetry, rhythm and humor, a genre coined by ‘new voice’ playwright Keenen Scott II, to reveal the inner life of being Black, proud and thriving in the 21st century. Set in Brooklyn in a single day, the vibrant and vulnerable experiences of seven Black men together create what has been described as ‘a daringly universal new play.’

An initial block of 20 seats has been reserved in the center section of the rear Orchestra, rows R-S. All seats are full view. The price per ticket is $119. Please note that the John Golden Theatre, by design and by Broadway standards, is a small theater with a total capacity of 787 seats, including 451 seats in the Orchestra. It remains, since its inception, intended for more intimate theater.

Tickets will be on sale through the website from now until December 1. E-tickets will be provided to registered guests approximately 2 weeks prior to the performance. To inquire about purchasing tickets after the deadline or for a purchase of more than 2 tickets per order, and/or for any additional questions, please contact Ellen Matzkin, '69, Events Committee Co-chair directly at matzkinellen1@gmail.com. Post-theater meet-up information will be forthcoming to all registered guests.
