Global literary voices and getting a jump on holiday shopping

Dear Reader,

The temperature may be dropping, but our schedule of events is heating up!

There is still room for you to join Words without Borders' Executive Director, Karen Phillips '02, and novelist Maaza Mengiste on Monday, November 17, for Spreading the Word, a lively talk about the importance of cross-cultural literature. Then come be with other Young and Young-at-Heart Smithies at an after-work Happy Hour on Tuesday, November 18, starting at 6:30 pm at Tribeca's The Hideaway. Next, get a head start on holiday gifts on Wednesday, November 19, by checking out unexpected treasures from the Smith College Museum of Art -- right here in Manhattan. RSVP by November 12 for our annual shopping event.

And finally, it's time to think about pecans! Orders take up to 4 weeks for delivery, so you must order in advance to have pecans in time for the holiday season. Proceeds from this longstanding Smith tradition go to the Scholarship Fund. Find out more about the Smith tradition, the different varieties offered and how to order here: Pecans
