Tonight's Event with Author Frances Vieta, Love in the Land of Barefoot Soldiers

Dear Reader,

Spend your Wednesday evening with the Smith College Club of New York, as author Frances Vieta '64 discusses her new book, Love in the Land of Barefoot Soldiers. This epic historical narrative is part war story, part love story, exploring the failure of The League of Nations in keeping the peace when Italy invaded Ethiopia in 1935. In addition to discussing the book, Frances will share vintage video clips to show the historical setting and how the book developed. The event combines a book launch at 6 pm with a dinner; reservations required.

And don't forget to show your school - and city - pride by contributing to The Smith Fund Multi-City Philanthropy Challenge. This five city fundraising drive raises much-needed funds for scholarships for future Smithies, academic program enhancements, facilities and more. Because the Challenge is counting the giving rate -- the number of donors, not the amount of the donation -- your participation is critical. So please consider a gift - even if it's small. Any and all gifts truly do count!
