Free Gallery Tour on April 7, Young Alum Happy Hour, Influential Women on Mistakes Made At Work

Dear Reader,

On Tuesday, April 7, join other art lovers at the International Print Center in Chelsea, where curator Janice Oresman '55 will offer a very special tour and talk about the exhibition, "True Monotypes."

Artists create monotypes by rolling ink over glass, metal or other flat surfaces. Jan will share insights into this exciting medium and will speak about the printing process overall. An Art History major who went on to pursue an M.A. from the Institute of Fine Arts at NYU, Jan is an art advisor, curator and avid print collector. The tour is being offered free of charge, but space is limited and reservations are required.

On Thursday, April 16, meet with other young and young-at-heart Smithies at our Happy Hour. Stop by Floyd NY in Brooklyn Heights any time after 6:30 pm for drinks, conversation, and - what else? - indoor bocce!

On Thursday, April 23, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, we explore women's professional lives, in a talk by Jessica Bacal on her new book, Mistakes I Made at Work: 25 Influential Women Reflect on What They Got Out of Getting It Wrong. Bacal, who serves as director of Smith's Wurtele Center for Work & Life, interviews a wide range of fascinating women from many different fields, including Cheryl Strayed (author of Wild), Kim Gordon (musician / founding member of Sonic Youth), Anna Holmes (founding editor of Jezebel.com), and Laurel Touby (founder of MediaBistro.com).
