One Week Left Until Annual Scholarship Benefit with President Emerita Jill Ker Conway

Dear Reader,

Many of you have purchased tickets already for our Annual Scholarship Benefit on Tuesday, May 5. But if you have not yet signed up, you have until April 30 to do so. Join us for a very special evening with President Emerita Jill Ker Conway, who served as Smith College's first female president from 1975-1985 and who then went on to write the well-known memoir, The Road from Coorain. By raising money for scholarships, the benefit provides the next generation of women with access to everything Smith offers. The evening takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on the Upper East Side (location to be provided to those who register).

We go from an evening with a former Smith College president to a morning with our current president. Sign up now for the the Smith in New York Networking Breakfast on Friday, June 12, from 8:00 to 10:00 am, with Smith's president, Kathleen McCartney. The breakfast takes place at a Midtown location close to Grand Central Station. Register here by Tuesday, May 12, for the location.

Between these two events, all members are invited to attend our Annual Faculty Lecture on Monday, June 8, at 7:00 pm. This Smith Club tradition is free to members. We welcome as our speaker this year Sam Intrator, Professor and Chair of the Child Study Program at Smith and Founding Director of the Smith College Urban Education Initiative. Intrator also serves as co-founder of Project Coach, a Smith-staffed program serving children and teenagers in Springfield, Mass. In addition to teaching courses in urban educational policy and youth development, Intrator works with graduate and undergraduate students preparing to teach adolescents in both school and out-of-school placements.
