Congrats to Class of 2015, Wed. Salon on Women and Political Leadership, June 8 Faculty Lecture

Dear Reader,

Looking for something different to do this week?

Join us on Wednesday, May 20, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm for a lively discussion exploring the issue of women and leadership. Our evening Salon, moderated by Dr. Patricia Tidwell, '73, delves into this important conversation by focusing on one of the world's most visible female politicians -- Hillary Rodham Clinton -- who is hoping to become our country's first female president. By referencing Clinton's book, Hard Choices, we explore questions such as how women like Clinton decide to run, and what motivates them.

On Memorial Day (Monday, May 25), head to the park -- Central Park! Kick Off summer with the Smith College Club of New York City as we host our holiday picnic from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.

Then it's time for one of the highlights of the year: our Annual Faculty Lecture. Held on Monday, June 8, at 7:00 pm, this event is free for members. This year's guest speaker is Sam Intrator, Professor and Chair of the Child Study Program at Smith and Founding Director of the Smith College Urban Education Initiative. Intrator also serves as co-founder of Project Coach, a Smith-staffed program serving children and teenagers in Springfield, Mass. In addition to teaching courses in urban educational policy and youth development, Intrator works with graduate and undergraduate students preparing to teach adolescents in both school and out-of-school placements.

Finally, a warm congratulations to all members of the Smith College Class of 2015 whose Commencement ceremony took place on campus this past Sunday.
