Craft Meet-Up & the Creative Process, Author Susan Cohen '62 on The Inspired Landscape

Dear Reader,

The temperature will soon be dropping, which means it's time to finish that warm scarf you've been knitting. If you do your best crafts among company, stop by our Craft Meet-Up on Wednesday, November 4, starting at 6:30 pm. It's a great way to finish your latest project - or start a new one - over good conversation.

If you are in need of some inspiration, join us on Thursday, November 19, starting at 6:00 pm, as we host author and landscape artist Susan Cohen '62, who will speak about her new book, The Inspired Landscape: Twenty-One Leading Landscape Architects Explore the Creative ProcessThe book, which includes renowned landscape architects from around the world, traces each project from the initial creative spark to completion. It includes stunning designs such as a MoMA roof garden inspired by a French film from the 1950s and a drought-resistant California landscape inspired by a Van Gogh painting. Susan is a Smith College Trustee Emerita and recipient of the John M. Greene Award. She will be joined by Signe Nielsen '72, whose Brooklyn waterfront project, Fulton Landing, is featured in the book. The event includes a talk and book signing and will be held at an Upper East Side location. RSVP for details.

Get ahead of your Thanksgiving shopping by ordering your
Pecans. Remember, all net proceeds go to the Smith Scholarship Fund.

Finally, our Movie Night, originally scheduled for November 3, is being rescheduled. Keep an eye on our website and watch for the new date in an upcoming newsletter.
