Faculty Lecture (Free for Members), Brooklyn Meet-Up at Smorgasburg, Memorial Day Weekend Picnic

Dear Reader,

Northampton comes to New York City on Wednesday, May 11, for our Annual Faculty Lecture. This year we welcome Sara Pruss, Associate Professor of Geosciences and Recipient of the 2015 Kathleen Compton Sherrerd '54 and John J. F. Sherrerd Prize for Distinguished Teaching. Pruss, who has been a member of the Smith faculty since 2007, specializes in invertebrate paleontology, marine science and the history of life on earth. She has been featured in two National Geographic TV programs. This event starts at 6:30 pm and is free for members ($30 for non-members).

On Saturday, May 14, celebrate Ivy Day / Commencement by joining us in Brooklyn for our Neighborhood Meet-Up. Head out to Williamsburg to check the 75+ vendors at beloved outdoor foodie market Smorgasburg (East River State Park at North 7th Street). Stop by beginning at 1:30 pm, and look for our balloons and sign. This is a great opportunity for members and those who are considering becoming members to connect in a relaxed, social setting.

Our next Book Group meets on Monday, May 16, at 6:30 pm. The focus will be on All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.

And mark your calendars now for our Picnic in Central Park, set for Sunday, May 29, at 1:00 pm. Join other Smithies for a casual get-together to mark the start of Summer.
