Dear Reader,

Looking for something to do this Memorial Day weekend? How about a potluck picnic in the park? Join us for a relaxing get-together in Central Park on Sunday, May 29. Friends and family (Smithies and non-Smithies) are welcome. Meet at the corner of West 67th Street and Central Park West at 1:00 pm - or join us in the Sheep Meadow (look for the blue and gold balloons). Bring your own food and drink and anything you'd like to share.

The tour, which runs from 11:00 am to noon, will include discussions of the Roosevelt era and the Four Freedoms Park, the architect's design principes and philosophy, the story behind the building of the memorial and the history of Roosevelt Island.

The evening of Monday, June 6, brings author Dinitia Smith '67 for a talk on her new book, The Honeymoon, a biographical novel about George Eliot, author of Middlemarch.
