Thanks for a Wonderful Year!

Dear Reader,

We have completed yet another fantastic year of the Smith College Club of New York City. This year, we welcomed new and renewing members, launched a new website, sent 178 students from the NYC area off to Smith (including those who will go this Fall), and invited members and non-members to join us for a record-breaking 72 events. Some of our favorites include:

  • Our always-impromptu but always enjoyable Mountain Day party in Bryant Park and our spring Tea - a great way to continue beloved College traditions.
  • Welcoming President Emerita Dr. Ruth J. Simmons as the keynote speaker at our annual scholarship benefit, which, along with our pecan sales and donations throughout the year, raised $44,000 for the next generation of Smith women.
  • Our annual faculty lecture (free for members) with Associate Professor Sara Pruss.
  • Talks by author Dinitia Smith ‘67, documentarian Dr. Sarah Khan ‘87, mental health advocate Dior Vargas ‘09, landscape architect Susan Cohen ‘62, oncologist Dr. Anne Moore ’65 - and many others.
  • Tour of Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park on Roosevelt Island, conducted by Sally Minard '64.
  • Salons led by Dr. Trish Tidwell '73, Craft Meet-Ups, and Book Club gatherings
  • The launch of our Neighborhood Meet-Ups and French Meet-Ups.

These are just a few of the great moments we’ve hosted this past year - and we hope that you will join us at many of the events we're planning for the coming year. And remember, if you have been thinking about joining the Club or renewing your membership, now is a wonderful time to do so.

Thank you for a fabulous year,

The Board of the Smith College Club of New York City
