Packing Up Care, Holiday Games, Members Only at the The Met, and More

November 14, 2019

Thanks to everyone who attended last weekend's Cromwell Day* event, featuring Smith Sociology Professor Ginetta Candelario '90 as the keynote. Co-sponsored with the New York area Black Alumnae of Smith College, the event was a beautiful afternoon full of inspiration, fellowship, and engaging discussions for all who attended.

*Previously known as Otelia Cromwell Day, the College has recently renamed the event Cromwell Day in accordance with the family's wishes to honor the legacies of both Otelia Cromwell '1900 (Smith's first black graduate) and her niece Adelaide Cromwell '40 (Smith's first black faculty member). Professor Adelaide Cromwell passed away ealier this year at the age of 99.

There are a few more opportunities to enjoy the fall and many ways to keep busy this winter. Take a look at the eclectic mix of activities coming up.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Parent & Children Event Survey
The Club’s Events Committee is brainstorming the best way to host an event for Smithie parents and their children. The idea is to plan a Saturday morning activity that’s fun and educational for the children and allows the parents to socialize with each other. The committee is currently reaching out to different venues—including the Children's Museum of Arts, Lincoln Center, and the New Victory Theater—to see what options are available. Please complete this brief survey to help us understand your interests and to generate more ideas.
