Join the SCCNYC Social Work Network

The SCCNYC Social Work Network provides monthly or bi-monthly networking opportunities for Smith grads working in social work, counseling, therapy, and other related professions. Graduates and current students are welcome. The inaugural meeting will take place on Saturday, March 28 in Central Manhattan. Please sign up to join the network and receive meetup updates. 2020 Annual Scholarship Benefit Tickets Available Now
The 2020 Annual Scholarship Benefit will take place Tuesday, April 28, 2020, and feature a keynote by Smith Alumna Gillian Sorensen. Sorensen has had a distinguished career with the United Nations where she served as Special Adviser for Public Policy, Assistant Secretary-General for External Relations, and National Advocate for the United Nations Foundation. She worked closely with three Secretaries-General and diplomats from 193 nations. Her career began as NYC Commissioner for the United Nations and Consular Corps. She has twice been a Fellow at Harvard. Please join us for her presentation, “The US and the UN — What’s at Stake and Why It Matters.”

UPCOMING SMITH CLUB EVENTS

Please join the Smith College Club of NYC for Art, Food, and Networking with Janet Borden ’73 at her contemporary art gallery in Dumbo, which is currently showing  Neighborhood Stroll by David Brandon Geeting.  A gallery tour, led by Borden, will begin at 11:30 am. Coffee and snacks will be served.

Come enjoy a fun afternoon singing your favorite songs. Whether your go-to anthem is a Motown classic, a boy band bop, or a Broadway showstopper, this marathon session of karaoke is for you. The Club will rent a private room, so sign up in advance so we can make a reservation. Then stop by any time between 2:00 and 8:00 pm, or stay the whole time! No previous karaoke experience necessary. Price includes the per-person cost of karaoke plus pizza and snacks. Please join the Smith Club of NYC for a Spanish language meet-up. This is an opportunity for casual conversation and a fun chance to use the Spanish learned at Smith. All levels welcome to join and practice in a recreational, relaxed, and natural way. This event is free and open to all. RSVP is strongly encouraged.

Julia Child Supper Club: March 2020

The new Julia Child Supper Club is an opportunity for NYC Smithies to gather together on a semi-regular basis to explore the cuisine of Julia Child. This group is a fun way to learn new cooking techniques and short cuts; and discover new ingredient sources, and favorite cooking tools from fellow Smithie cooks. Let's roll up our collective sleeves and make a delicious meal. Bon appetit!

  • Bus trip to see 'Black Refractions' + Smith Campus & NoHo Fun -  March 21
    The Black Alumnae of Smith College (BASC) and Alumnae Arts Lovers, a new Alumnae Special Interest Group, are sponsoring a "road trip" to campus on Saturday, March 21, 2020, for alums and guests to see the new exhibit, 'Black Refractions' at the Smith College Museum of Art. Additional activities on campus and in NoHo to take place. Registration, cost, departure/return location and times to be determined based on interest level.
