Thanks to everyone who joined the Smith College Club of NYC's Art, Food, and Networking event last month. The afternoon featured a tour of the  Janet Borden Gallery in Brooklyn.

UPCOMING SMITH CLUB EVENTS

Please join the Smith Club of NYC for a Spanish language meet-up. This is an opportunity for casual conversation and a fun chance to use the Spanish learned at Smith. All levels welcome to join and practice in a recreational, relaxed, and natural way. This event is free and open to all. RSVP is strongly encouraged.

The Global Tea is an extension of the Friday Tea in the Cloud Facebook Group. This event is a chance for Smith College communities around the world to gather together and once again enjoy the feeling of a Friday Afternoon Tea. Food and beverage will be provided with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available. Tickets are available on a sliding scale.

The SCCNYC Social Work Network is a monthly or bi-monthly networking group for Smith alumnae working in social work, counseling, therapy, and other related professions. The group will provide space for like-minded individuals to discuss trends in social work and psychotherapy. Alumnae and current students are welcome! Please contact Lena Zairis, LMSW ’12 at lnz204@nyu.edu with questions regarding the group.

The New York Public Library has acquired by purchase and gift a collection of rarely seen Virginia Woolf material. The 153-piece collection contains extensive correspondence, rare printed books, photographs, original artwork, and ephemera (including Woolf’s passport). Come enjoy a private tour of the collection led by a NYPL docent. Following the tour, gather togeter for drinks at a nearby location.

Featuring a keynote by Smith Alumna Gillian Sorensen.
 
Sorensen has had a distinguished career with the United Nations where she served as Special Adviser for Public Policy, Assistant Secretary-General for External Relations, and National Advocate for the United Nations Foundation. She worked closely with three Secretaries-General and diplomats from 193 nations. Her career began as NYC Commissioner for the United Nations and Consular Corps and she has twice been a Fellow at Harvard.
 
Please join us for her presentation, “The US and the UN — What’s at Stake and Why It Matters.”
