Creating Holiday Magic - The Art of Floral Design for Yourself and Your HOME

Join Pauline Runkle, a renowned floral artist with extraordinary professional credits from Disney to the Dalai Lama, for a workshop/lecture that will educate and inspire you to create your own holiday centerpiece with personalized fresh and accessible elements. Pauline will explain the mechanics necessary to design a successful holiday centerpiece by demonstrating floral techniques and basics, while speaking about her unusual and noteworthy professional career as Principal of her company Floral Artistry. 

Don’t be intimidated! Every registered participant will receive, in advance, a booklet she has specifically crafted for the Smith audience to aid in note-taking during the lecture and to use afterwards to create and sustain lasting unique arrangements through the Holiday season. A Virtual Tour of the Cloisters: Exploring Manhattan’s Medieval Treasure

What a great time of year and a unique opportunity to learn about the Cloisters – a little bit of medieval Europe in the midst of a modern metropolis.

Join Emma Guest-Consales, Ph.D. (Smith ’90), art historian and licensed NYC tour guide, for a webinar and virtual tour exploring the history, construction, and collection of the Cloisters, a unique space in NYC, dedicated to medieval art and architecture, as part of the Department of Medieval Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS

PECAN SALES: A SMITH TRADITION

pecans-1For more than sixty years, Smith College clubs around the country have been selling Georgia pecans at holiday time to raise money for college scholarships. Dorothy Lobrano Guth '50 started this fundraising effort for the New York Smith Club about fifty years ago.

The NYC Club continues to offer the three most popular selections: Mammoth halves, milk-chocolate-covered, and dark-chocolate-covered. Additional varieties (such as cinnamon, glazed, or clusters) are available by special request.

These pecans make a wonderful holiday treat and as always, the net proceeds go to the Smith Scholarship Fund! Scroll down for the store link and order yours today!
