Gillian Sorensen '63

Our speaker has been described by The New York Times as “the Diplomat’s Diplomat.” Gillian Sorenson has had a distinguished career with the United Nations, where she served as Special Advisor for Public Policy, Assistant Secretary-General for External Relations, and National Advocate for the United Nations Foundation.  She worked closely with three Secretaries General and diplomats from 193 nations.

Gillian has twice been a Fellow at Harvard. She is a member of the Board of the International Rescue Committee and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and International Women’s Forum. Gillian continues to be a strong advocate on matters of peace, human rights and refugee relief.  Her work was recognized by the college, and she was given a Smith College Medal in 2015.

One hundred percent of the ticket price goes to the scholarship fund, and is fully deductible. The proceeds provide critical financial aid to qualified students from the New York Metropolitan area.
