Drawing is a great way to look more closely at objects around you and connect what you see with your eyes and your brain. You'll start with the basics and learn how to make  everyday objects appear to have volume on the page.

ALL-YOU-WILL-NEED DRAWING SUPPLIES:  These supplies are not costly and available at any local art or office supply store, including Staples, DickBlick, and, of course, Amazon.

- Drawing Paper: this can come in a pad or large book that can lie flat or in single sheets. It does not need to be expensive but it needs to be more substantial (heavy) than copy paper;  

- A Range of Pencils: Pencils come in different hardnesses which determine how dark and light they can mark.
 

Lisa Jacobson, Class of 1997, studied Art and Art History at Smith and has been teaching art, including drawing and painting, for 26 years to students ranging from 3-year-olds to adults. She spends most of her time teaching High and Middle School students at Collegiate School in Manhattan where she is Chair, of the Visual Arts department.
