Join us for a private SCC NYC tour of Poster House’s new exhibition, From the Bronx to the Battery: The Subway Sun.
Hosted by Angelina Lippert ’07, the tour will be led by curator Es-pranza Humphrey—who many of you may remember from her fantastic walkthrough of the Nike House exhibit last fall.
The Interborough Rapid Transit Company (IRT) launched New York City’s first underground subway line in 1904. To encourage riders to explore beyond their neighborhoods, the IRT introduced two in-car poster campaigns— The Elevated Express and The Subway Sun—that celebrated each borough’s unique attractions. Of these, The Subway Sun was especially successful.
