Walking Tour: Gilded Age Mansions of Fifth Avenue

 With Emma Guest-Consales '09

Sunday, June 9, 2024 I 11 AM - 1 PM (rain or shine)

In New York City, the “Gilded Age” was the period when robber barons like Frick and Carnegie built some of the most extravagant urban palaces the city has ever seen during the period of booming economic growth of the latter half of the 19th century.

Join Emma Guest-Consales '90, founder and principal guide of My New York City Tours, for a two-hour walk past some of the grand residences of the Beaux-Arts architects Hunt, White, and Gilbert. You'll hear stories of their designers and owners, as well as the history and scandals of the Gilded Age. These mansions in the heart of New York City helped give Fifth Avenue along Central Park the cachet it still holds today, as one of the most famous residential neighborhoods in the city.
